COVID-19 TESTING UPDATE 1/14/2021

To accelerate its COVID-19 vaccination operation, the Prince George’s County Health Department is modifying its COVID-19 testing schedule. Testing at Health Department Headquarters (1701 McCormick Drive, Largo), the D. Leonard Dyer Regional Health Center (9314 Piscataway Road, Clinton) and the Roseu Medical Center (14402 Baltimore Avenue Laurel) is suspended indefinitely.

Prince George’s County residents can get COVID-19 tests at the following Health Department testing sites:

​

  • First United Methodist Church, 6201 Belcrest Road, Hyattsville, MD 20782 

    • Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

      • Tests are free

      • No appointment is necessary

      • No insurance is necessary 

      • Drive-through or walk-up 

​

  • Adventist Medical Group Primary Care Center, 10709 MD-210 Suite D, Fort Washington, MD 20744

    • Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. 

    • Tests are free

    • No appointment necessary

    • No insurance necessary 

    • Walk-up testing only

Prince Georgians may also receive free COVID-19 tests in the County that do not require appointments, insurance, or a doctor’s note at sites run by the State of Maryland and private groups (i.e. pharmacies, health centers). Please search the County’s test site locator

Health Department COVID-19 Testing

The Prince George’s County Health Department offers FREE COVID-19 tests for individuals with or without symptoms that have been exposed to or suspected to have been exposed to a COVID-19-positive person. All County-run testing sites accommodate testing for those in a car or on foot.

Patients do not need a doctor’s prescription, or insurance to get tested, however, you must present identification. There will be no questions about immigration status at any of our testing sites. If you have health insurance, you must present your insurance card. Testing is provided free of charge (no out-of-pocket cost or co-payment regardless of insurance).

Some testing sites may require an appointment. Please refer to the list of sites below for details.

To receive more than one test from the Prince George’s County Health Department, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:

​

  • Have a known/suspected exposure to a positive case  

  • Have symptoms 

  • Are part of a County contact tracing case investigation and were directed to be tested 

​

The Health Department also considers other retest requests on a case-by-case basis. The on-site registered nurse will assess and determine if retesting outside of the above criteria meets CDC guidelines.

Testing at a Health Department location is limited to residents 10 years of age and older.

​

COVID-19 Symptoms (CDC Update May 2020)

COVID-19 SYMPTOMS

  • Infected people have had a wide range of symptoms – from mild to severe.

  • Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure.

  • ​

People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:

​

  • Fever or chills

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headache

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Congestion or runny nose

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Diarrhea

 

If someone is showing any of these signs, seek emergency medical care immediately:

​

  • Trouble breathing

  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest

  • New confusion

  • Inability to wake or stay awake

  • Bluish lips or face

 

Call your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning to you.
