Delegate Nicole A. Williams Newsletter
This may be the 441st session of the Maryland General Assembly, but it is my first time serving as your Delegate-- a privilege that will push me even harder to make sure the people of District 22 are represented and their voices are heard.
This newsletter is only a part of the efforts being made to be transparent and open to the citizens of District 22; my office is the people's office.
In order to ensure that I am serving my District as efficiently as possible, my Chief of Staff, Dejah Williams, has brought on a college intern as well as a legacy volunteer.
Our intern, Morgan Mills, a senior political science major at UMBC says “I have always been passionate about politics, so I am so excited to have the opportunity to intern for Delegate Williams-- a very well-accredited woman who inspires me daily. Being able to completely immerse myself in Maryland politics during this 90-day session is an invaluable experience-- from the information I’ve learned to the connections I make, I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity.”
Donna Hoffmeister is our Legacy Intern. The Legacy Program at the University of Maryland holds a class for retirees in the fall semester introducing them to the state government in Annapolis, followed by volunteer work in the legislature during session. "Delegate Williams graciously allows me an inside seat from which I can begin to learn the ins and outs of legislative action." During her work life, Donna taught university-level classes in German literature for 15 years before becoming an IT Specialist for the Federal government. Donna and her cat Mickey reside in Greenbelt.
Once again, I thank you for placing your belief in me. I am your voice and your advocate.

The Delegate Nicole A. Williams' District 22 Scholarship
I am so honored to be given the opportunity to serve District 22 as a State Delegate. These first few weeks of session have come and gone in the blink of an eye, but there is still so much to be accomplished.
Serving as a State Delegate means that I am constantly faced with issues that could potentially change the state and lives of Marylander’s forever; something I do not take likely-- which is why I am so excited to announce the Delegate Nicole A. Williams' Scholarship. Every session, Maryland Delegates and Senators offer scholarships to those in their districts that are pursuing a higher education.
As a Delegate from Prince George’s County, a county in which 60% of every dollar brought into the county goes towards education, education always has and always will be a priority for me. Education is the foundation for significant and enriching community engagement. As representatives of the State, we want to ensure that we are giving back to the communities we come from.
My scholarship will open up on Feb. 1 and the deadline to apply is April 1, with awards being announced in mid-May. More information, along with the application itself can be found on my website.
Due to the high volume of applicants, those not chosen will not be contacted via email or phone.
High School seniors across the state of Maryland have the opportunity to become General Assembly Pages- it was a privilege to be able to meet a page from District 22!
As a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc. I celebrated 100 years of the Women's Suffrage movement this year at the Women's Caucus Event.
